Roommate App

Roommate App

Overview and Constraints

This design challenge was part of a UX designer interview process focused on solving a common issue in the housing market—finding and keeping a good roommate. The objective was to create a mobile app that addressed the needs of an apartment owner seeking a roommate and someone searching for a place to live. We were given five days to complete all design phases and present the solution.

My Approach

I dedicated most of the time to researching and defining the problem, focusing on understanding user needs and pain points. Since the prompt was hypothetical, I conducted informal user research by contacting friends and family for their insights. Miro was used to map the process work, while the final prototype was developed in Figma.

Learnings and Outcomes

I learned the importance of having a fully defined problem and clear goals before jumping into Figma. By intentionally delaying work in Figma, I established a solid framework, which led to a more effective and valuable outcome. If I had more time, I would have liked to conduct user testing on my Figma iterations to refine the UI. However, given the tight deadline, I'm satisfied with the outcome.
